Youth with Disabilities in the Foster Care System

Here is a site that addresses the issues of having youth with disabilities in the foster care system. It is a report that was sent to the President in 2008 with a letter. It is too lengthy to post the entire report here, but I thought I would post the link. It is an issue I haven't thought of much, but as soon as I was introduced to the topic, I was touched. Not only for the child, but also for the Foster families. What a challenge for all involved! One of the most important aspects for children with disabilities is a stable and consistent environment. My heart truly goes out to those who are doing there best to provide a good life for these children and youth.
A wonderful woman and her husband run a home in Windsor for terminally ill foster children. Some have disabilities, also. She has had many a funeral for "her" children, but she continues to give all she has and keep the home life one of togetherness and consistency and love. There are amamzing people in this world who truly care for those who need a little more guidance, care, and love in their lives.
